Human-wildlife conflict calls down

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Conservation Officer service has seen a 30 per cent drop in human-wildlife conflict calls involving bears.
They attribute the drop to a large amount of natural food available and more residents having a better understanding of bear behaviour.
The COS would like to remind the public, that bears are close to entering hibernation stage and their behaviours can change in finding food sources.
The COS adds even though the calls have dipped, residents need to continue to secure attractants, as it is the single best way to keep people safe and avoid the unnecessary killing of bears that come into conflict with people.
