Cougars cut DiLaura loose
PRINCE GEORGE– The Prince George Cougars have finalized their goalie situation for the upcoming season by sending 19-year-old goalie Isaiah DiLaura to Portland in exchange for a seventh-round bantam draft pick in 2022.
On the Cougars roster for the last two seasons, the St. Paul, Minnesota tender posted seven wins, along with a 3.61 goals-against average and .889 save percentage.
The move solidifies 2018 first-round draft pick Tyler Brennan’s spot on the team.
The Manitoba-born Brennan is set to turn 16 on September 27th and will back up Cougars starting goaltender Taylor Gauthier, who enters his third season with the team.
The Cougars roster now sits at 25 players: two goaltenders, eight defencemen and fifteen forwards, as they get ready for Friday’s home opener against the Vancouver Giants.
