One local prospect that hopes to be taking the ice at the CN Centre this weekend is actually a Cougars opponent.

The Vancouver Giants come to town on Friday and with them, possibly Jacob Gendron. The Prince George boy and Giants-hopeful has just wrapped up his second camp with Vancouver, which featured a matchup against his hometown.

The 17-year-old Prince George boy scored twice this preseason and now waits to hear if he’s cracked the regular season roster for the Giants.

With two defenders away at NHL Camps and just 6 currently in Langley, there’s a good chance that the 6th-round pick plays his first WHL game on his hometown ice this weekend, after a confidence building camp.
