Fall Fest a huge success for PG’s downtown

It was a perfect way to start the weekend.

The sun was shining, the rain held off, and the signs of the changing season were evident.

The first-ever Fall Fest took place Saturday in Prince George and saw multiple farmers markets and vendors lined along 3rd street for residents to come and enjoy.

Downtown Prince George put on the event in conjunction with the Prince George Farmer’s market and the turnout was outstanding.

“I did expect a bigger crowd and I brought in more vegetables, but I didn’t anticipate it to be this big!” stated President of the Prince George Farmer’s Market Phil Myatovic.

Myatovic wasn’t the only one thrilled to see the great turnout for the event, so were the vendors.

“They are overwhelmed. There are people everywhere. It almost feels like a different city.”

In conjunction with the Fall Fest was Vegan Fest.

Vegan Fest was held in Hubspace and from the time the doors opened there was a steady amount of residents flocking inside to try out all of the vegan products.

“We knew we would get a lot of folks out because there is a lot of vegans who are looking for new restaurants, new dishes at restaurants, and new ideas for food in town. We knew because of our Facebook activity and online activity that we would get a lot of interest,” shared organizer Rob Budde.

A lot of interest may have been an understatement.

One vendor ran out of products in just over an hour, and by 1:00 p.m. all of the vendors were sold out.

Budde revealed to CKPG that he already has some plans and hopes for next year.

“I think we will have more restaurants setting up so I can see us really filling up this facility for next year.”

Cornflower Concina received the most votes as Best Vegan Bite 2019 at the festival.
