PRINCE GEORGE–This year’s Bike-A-Thon, a fundraiser to support healthcare initiatives in the north raised over $20,000.

Bike-A-Thon has taken place since 2010 for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, and this year raised $20,842 for the Spirit of Healthy Kids Program.

Every year the group starts their journey at the Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Temple at 8 AM, and cycles all the way to Purden Lake for a picnic lunch.

The fundraiser which took place on August 31, brings the grand total to $150,000 raised since 2010.

“We are truly grateful for the generosity and ambition shown for healthcare by everyone.” Said Judy Neiser, CEO Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. “Each year they continue to direct their donations to an area of greatest need and focusing on healthy messages to youth is ideal. Our hope is that what is learned through this program is retained and shared with family and friends so that everyone benefits from great lessons learned at a young age.”

The Spirit of Healthy Kids Program aims at teaching youth about healthy decisions, being active and giving back to the community.
