PRINCE GEORGE – Anything you can do, I can do better… and such is the case in the sister-sister relationship between Madison and Rebecca Landry.

Madison Landry held the University of Northern British Columbia single-game rookie scoring record for four years. Four years before her little sister, Rebecca came along.

On Saturday (Jan. 25), Rebecca set a new UNBC record with 30 points in the Timberwolves 96-60 win over the Brandon University Bobcats.

Landry’s 30 were aided by her six three-pointers, but the first-year also chipped in with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Her older sister Madison scored 20 points, to go along with six assists and four rebounds. Maria Mongomo, fresh off three consecutive 30-point outings, added 17 points and nine boards, while Emma vanBruinessen grabbed 14 boards.

With the win, the Timberwolves have now gone back-to-back weekends having swept their opponents and have improved to a 7-9 record.

As for the men’s squad, they were unable to snap their losing skid which has since been extended to stand at nine games now following a 96-74 decision.

The loss still managed to have its highlights for the Timberwolves as Fareed Shittu made UNBC history.

His 26 points broke the Timberwolves’ single-game rookie scoring record, adding another impressive notch to the athletic freshman’s belt. He added 10 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The game was won behind the arc, where the Bobcats went 16-for-38 for 42.1 per cent, while the Timberwolves were 6-for-27, good for just 22.1 per cent.

Up next for the Timberwolves, they’ll hit the road to face the University of Regina Cougars for a back-to-back on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
