Up and down weekend for Timberwolves in Regina
Now playing with 6 players in any sport is a challenge. I should know, my ball hockey team has 6 players on the norm, and guess what happens. We lose. So what the UNBC Timberwolves Womens basketball team did over the weekend was pretty remarkable.
The Timberwolves Womens squad went into Regina with just 6 players and earned a pair of wins over the weekend despite being shorthanded. Friday they earned a 73-67 win and then followed it up with a 76-71 win Saturday to extend their winning streak to 6 games, improve to 9-9, and clinched a playoff spot. Meanwhile the Men’s squad it was another tough weekend for them as they dropped a 90-58 loss to U of R Friday and a 78-67 decision Saturday. The losses extend the Mens team losing streak to 11, but despite that still have a chance at making the playoffs. Both the Mens and Womens team are back on the court Friday and Saturday when they host MacEwan.
