PRINCE GEORGE — Protests have been held all over the world the last couple of weeks following the death of George Floyd, who was killed by a police officer in Minnesota. Now, the most recent Black Lives Matter movement has hit Prince George.

Hundreds came out to show their support for the Black Lives Matter movement, against racism and police brutality, in front of City Hall Friday afternoon. The crowd was tight-knit and diverse, with people of all ages, genders, and colours standing together.

A strong First Nations presence was also brought forward during the rally calling out the same issues seen against Indigenous persons that the Black Lives Matters movement stands against.

As well, a nearly nine-minute moment of silence to honour George Floyd, whose death kickstarted global outrage hoping for change.
