PRINCE GEORGE—There’s some good news for local Gym Rats—Gyms are opening back up.

For Gold’s Gym Prince George today was there first day back up-and-running after closing their doors earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “People were really itching to get back into their routines,” said Roger Creuzot, owner of Gold’s Gym Prince George, in an over the phone interview.

“Someone today said they had their alarm set, and they were counting down the days.”—Roger Creuzot, owner of Gold’s Gym Prince George

While the re-opening is welcomed by many, eager to begin pumping some iron, Creuzot says that there have been changes in the way they are able to operate. Upon arrival at the gym there are signs asking patrons if they’ve had any cold or flu like symptoms, a code of conduct form is filled out by gym goers before having access to gym equipment as a precaution.

Their capacity maxes out at fifty people in the gym at a time, and also limits workouts to a max. of 90 minutes. Creuzot says that patrons can drop-in as they please, without making any sort of reservation, and are asked to come wearing their gym clothes, to limit the number of people using change rooms. Showers are not being offered at the facility at this time.

The spacing out of equipment, and adding signs on equipment (to prevent people from standing closer than six feet) have been placed to help with physical distancing. Creuzot says that they are also ensuring their equipment and facility stays clean with daily sanitization.

As for the difficulty of complying with the re-opening guidelines Creuzot says they weren’t that difficult to follow and adds, “I think that we tried to go above and beyond those guidelines with what we have in place here.” Hours of operation at Gold’s Gym Prince George have changed from 8 a.m to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
