PRINCE GEORGE – The quiet outside Riverside Seniors Centre was broken very abruptly this afternoon as a group of residents got together to bang pots and pans in a show of appreciation to care aide workers.

“They’re doing double time,” explains organizer Myrna Niro. ” We have breakfast, lunch and supper that are brought to our rooms because we can’t meet in the dining room for the obvious reasons. They do that three times a day.”

She says it is truly remarkable that not a single care home in all of Northern BC has been touched by COVID-19.

“That almost tells us that the government and the powers that be are doing some right for us. Because we do have special needs because we’re older. We need special attention sometimes. With the care aides and everything, it’s just been a miracle.”
