DPG helps with recovery
PRINCE GEORGE – Local businesses trying to get back into business are getting some help from a familiar organization.
When COVID-19 struck, it “threw a wrench into everything,” according to the Executive Director for Downtown Prince George, Colleen Van Mook. But now that businesses are allowed to re-open to a limited degree, DPG is trying its best to help out.
“So we created some nice little micro-grants where they could use that money towards re-engineering their space,” says Van Mook.
During the height of the shutdown, DPG brought in mobile security to keep an eye on the shuttered businesses. She says, even now, the downtown looks much better than it did in April when most retailers were on lockdown and others were sending employees to work from home.
