City sees gradual decrease in river levels

PRINCE GEORGE – Water levels at Paddlewheel Park have dropped considerably thanks to a much-needed break in precipitation.

The City of Prince George had issued an evacuation alert for residents of Farrell Street across from Paddlewheel Park as river flow was sitting at 9.4 metres as of Saturday. However, the City has seen decreasing levels with much of it coming today alone, which has allowed residents in the area to stay put.

“Currently, water levels are dropping. Slowly, but they’re dropping. We’re at 9.2 metres. We were at 9.359, so we’ve come down a bit,” says Prince George’s Manager of Emergency Programs and Public Safety, Clay Sheen. “Hopefully, over the next few days, we can keep that drop going. Rain is in the future, not a ton of it, so we’ll watch and see how that affects the river levels.”
