Public access to Masich Place Stadium starts next week

PRINCE GEORGE — Good news for fitness enthusiasts as Masich Place Stadium will open next week for its walking program. This after it was closed due to physical distancing requirements associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City of Prince George says public access to the track starts at 6 a.m. on July 15 and will be available for public walking from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, except for when the facility is booked by a user group.

“Access to the Stadium will be from the Massey entrance,” reads a City news release. “Residents using the facility are reminded to avoid any construction zones at the stadium and maintain a two-metre distance between themselves and others. Renovations are expected to be complete by the end of the summer.”

The City says Council and staff are working to reopen as many facilities as it responsibly can.

The City is also working with local sports organizations to have them return to play on City fields and ball diamonds. The City says its currently working to align their own return to play plans with the safety plan for the City, which is posted on the City’s COVID-19 web page.
