New Lheidli T’enneh Chief and Council sworn-in

PRINCE GEORGE – Several Lheidli T’enneh members attended the outdoor Swearing-in ceremony held at Ron Seymour Memorial Park in the Northside Subdivision.

COVID-19 safety protocols were observed throughout the event. Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall and Lheidli member Regina Toth administered the Oath of Office to Chief Dolleen Logan and Councillors Helen Buzas, Josh Seymour, Dominic Frederick ‘Domo’, Crystal Gibbs, and Marcel Gagnon.

Regina Toth is the granddaughter of the 1st woman Chief of the Lheidli T’enneh, the late Chief Mary Pius.

Chief Logan is the 2nd woman Chief of the Lheidli T’enneh. The Chair of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George Art Kaehn and Administrator Jim Martin administered the Oath of Office to three members of the Lands Authority Committee during the ceremony.

They include Rena Zatorski, Elaine Gagnon, and Wendy Jael. During her first official speech, Chief Dolleen Logan stated

“I am extremely proud to be the 2nd woman Chief in Lheidli T’enneh history. I am honoured to have received the Oath of Office from both Mayor Hall and Regina Toth who is the granddaughter of Mary Pius, Lheidli’s 1st woman Chief. My key message to members is that Council’s doors are always open. We will respond to your calls, texts, and emails in a timely fashion. Council also plans to involve the community in all major decisions and when COVID restrictions are lifted, we will meet regularly with our Elders as we need their input about our future. We all get a say in our what our future looks like. I want to thank our community partners the City of Prince George and the Regional District of FraserFort George. I also want to thank our community for your overwhelming support and the trust you have placed in me as our Chief and the rest of Council. We are here because of you and we will not forget that.”
