Why are you running for office?

I was running for office to build support for the PPC, the first party that is a perfect match with my values.  That reason has been overshadowed in this election by the need to stand up for the freedom of my fellow Canadians, freedom to travel within their own country, freedom to work, and the freedom to have autonomy over our own bodies.

How does your party plan to address the issue of climate change?

I need “climate change” defined. If by “climate change” you mean the theory that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are the primary driver of the changing climate, the PPC rejects that theory and will cancel the carbon tax and withdraw from the Paris Agreement.  Our environmental plan is to clean up Canada’s air, soil, and water, dealing with actual pollution, not CO2.

How would you address the challenges facing some Aboriginal communities across our region?

The PPC platform on Indigenous Issues includes replacing the paternalistic Indian Act with new legislation based on mutual respect, promoting the establishment of personal property rights on reserves, and ensuring Indigenous communities take more ownership of the services they receive from Ottawa.

What’s your stance on the development of pipelines?

The PPC is pro pipeline and will use section 92(10) of the Constitution to get them built.  Consultations will be made with affected First Nations to minimize the impact on their communities and make sure they get a fair piece of the action, whether that’s royalties, jobs, water purification plants, or all of the above.

How high a priority is affordable child care for your party? What’s your party’s pitch?

Affordable child care is not part of our platform since it directly conflicts with our goal of a smaller, less intrusive Federal government.  This will be a provincial issue.

What’s your party’s stance on vaccinations? Should they be mandatory?

The PPC opposed mandatory vaccinations.  We support the right of Canadians to give informed consent.  If you want a vaccination, get one, but no one must be forced to get one against their will.

What would you do to help seniors?

Seniors will get the same help the PPC wants to give all Canadians, a reformed Health care system to reduce wait times, and lower and simpler personal income tax rates, financed by eliminating corporate welfare and encouraging new business investment.

How would you address the opioid crisis?

Recognizing the opioid crisis as a health crisis is a first step to resolution.  The PPC wants to encourage a European health care model for the provinces to cut wait times and more efficient spending of health dollars.  I personally would like to see us adopt the Portuguese model to resolve addiction issues, decriminalizing drugs with mandatory treatment and rehabilitation for addicts.

Where do you live in the riding? Why? What are your favorite places to spend time in?

I live in Horsefly.  I only moved here 2 months ago so right now my favorite place to be is in the forest gathering firewood, soon to be followed by installing insulation in my crawl space.

Who’s your favorite singer/band?

My favorite band is The Rolling Stones whom I’ve only seen once, the Voodoo Lounge tour.
