TWolves have high expectations of themselves heading into basketball season

PRINCE GEORGE – Their season doesn’t officially get underway until the end of October, but the UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball team is working hard in the gym ahead of a season in which expectations are high amongst its players.

“I think we definitely have the talent this year, so if everyone stays focused and everybody works hard then we shouldn’t have no problem reaching our expectations and our goals,” said TWolves forward Fareed Shittu.

“From our bigs to our guards, we’ve got fantastic players crossed the board,” explained player Chris Ross. “We’ve got young guys bringing energy and guys trying to make an impact on this team. We’re really excited. I’m really excited this year, I think we can make a real impact.”

This year in the gym has already been far different from the limitations the team was under with practising, but head coach Todd Jordan and his crew are making the most of the current situation in order to ensure they hit the ground running.

“It’s nice to get back to some consistent normalcy where we’ll be able to go full in practice and be competitive,” said head coach Todd Jordan.

The TWolves will spend next month playing some exhibition tournaments before their October 29th date with the TRU Wolfpack. The fact they even received a schedule this season was far more than what they got a year ago due to the pandemic.

And the players themselves couldn’t be more excited to get the season underway.

“We haven’t seen any games, we haven’t played any games for the last little while so as soon as we saw that schedule it’s like a spark, right. Everyone got really excited,” said TWolves guard Vova Pluzhnikov.

“It feels foreign to me, honestly. It’s been so long. Almost over a year since we’ve been able to fully practice and do contact. It feels good. It’s nice to be able to play again,” said Shittu.
