PRINCE GEORGE — A local business is celebrating its golden anniversary in Prince George Thursday.
And the owners of Windsor Plywood say their secret to success lies with the exceptional customer service they provide.
“Well, our staff here are key to our success. Up until recently, we had five staff over 30 years. One retired so we still have four,” says co-owner George Hackle. “And that staff brings continuity for customers, great product knowledge and great customer service which we take to another level.”
Co-owner Karen Hackle says their staff is such a fixture in the community, that it’s reminiscent of a famous television show.
“When you walk into the store, it’s sort of like Cheers, everybody knows your name. So, our staff knows the clients’ names and they know our staff members names.”
George and Karen are the third owners of the store, taking over 12 years ago, and are in awe the store has been such a success over the years.
“Yeah, I think 50 years is a pretty awesome milestone for any business. There’s certainly many others that have made that milestone as well. But for us it just means the community has supported us in that time,” says George.
And in turn, Windsor Plywood has supported the community in a number of ways.
“We’ve been involved with Spirit of the North fundraisers, Hospice House, Special Olympics, St. Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army,” says Karen.
So, what does the future hold?
“I like to think 10 years from now Windsor Plywood will be flourishing still. The community’s growing and we’re always looking for new people.”
