PRINCE GEORGE – The DP Todd Trojans Senior Boys’ AA basketball team enjoyed a solid weekend of play during its Trojans Classic tournament, but unfortunately did not receive a medal, as the team finished fifth place. Starting the tournament off with a 13 point loss to College Heights, the Trojans quickly recovered with a 5 point victory over Nechako Valley, before dominating in its final match with a 30 point victory over Burns Lake to finish the tournament in fifth place.

“The boys played hard, they played great defense the whole time and I was very proud as s coach to see that. Especially when we played Nechako Valley, which they’re in our zone for AA, that’s a team we need to beat if we want to go to provincials so it proved to the boys that they are capable of beating that team,” said Trojans Assistant Coach Randy Sandhu.

As the team prepares for other tournaments like zones later this season, Sandhu was happy to see the solid play of the Trojans this weekend and believes there is a lot of positives to continue building on. Beyond that, he added it’s always fun to play a tournament on your home court.

“It’s great because the boys love to play at home because it’s your home court, and seeing all the teams and just the vibe inside, everyone’s enjoying the weekend and it’s always a plus when you’re playing at home, right?” he said.
