It’s Time To “Give A Gift” At The PG Hospice Society

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Hospice Society is aiming to bring friends, families and loved ones together with their third annual “Give a Gift” campaign.

The cost of feeding guests and families at the Rotary Hospice House can be over $25,000 per year. And this Christmas, with the communities help, the society wants to raise enough to cover that cost.

“Well, what it does is allow people and families to get back to being families. One of the strongest things that hold us together is the fact that we eat and dine together. So it’s not unusual to see families at all of the tables here eating and enjoying and getting back to those times that they remember and continuing to make memories even though they are here in hospice house,” says Executive Director of the PG Hospice Society, Donna Flood.

The Christmas holidays can be devastating when you’re losing someone you care about. For Keith Monoley, it’s his wife he will be holding on to during the holidays. They have spent the past 6 weeks at the hospice and can’t say enough about the way they have been cared for.

“I don’t think you can give enough to this place, I really don’t. I was scared to come here at first but after, no, it was great,” adds Monoley. “We have got a lot of mixed feelings because we don’t think my wife is going to make it to Christmas. So family-wise, it’s a tough call, but like I said we’ve got the support here and we’ll pull through.”

Superstore got the ball rolling with a $200 donation and on Saturday, Beaverly Fire and Rescue will be presenting the hospice with a donation in memory of the friends and family of the fire department that have been supported by the PG Hospice Society.
