PRINCE GEORGE—Picaroon Pictures has received a $20,000 STORYHIVE grant to produce a horror film in Prince George. Called Hypnonaut, the high concept cosmic horror follows a mad scientist studying sleep disorders that are actually being created by entities from beyond the veil. And they want you to star in it.

“We’re really looking for anyone. All types male, female, old, young,” says Producer Devon Kavanagh. “One of the leads is is quite young, like, right around 20. So, we’re hoping to get some people in their twenties applying. But, we also have a few doctors and staff of the clinic which we do need some older people for as well.

While $20,000 might seem like a large chunk of change, it’s a small budget for a movie. This means Picaroon Pictures is going to have to get creative. Devon says they’re up for the task.

“We’re used to making films out of our pocket. So, we get together maybe $50 buy a couple prop masks and then go out on a weekend and film something.” explains Devon. “With this one, we actually have money. We can get some proper visual effects, get some proper costumes and that’s very exciting.”

Picaroon Pictures says casting needs to be finalized end of January. Filming will start in the spring with the movie expected to finished in December. You can apply by emailing Hypnonaut.auditions@gmail.com.
