After 35 years of fundraising, “Million Dollar Jim” nearing goal

“I feel excited, I’m excited about it. I’m very happy about about reaching the million dollar goal,” Terrion said, through sign language interpreter Rhonda Hemming.

“I remember not that long ago when he was at the $700,000 mark and thinking when I was a teenager: ‘oh, he’s still so far away, when’s he going to do it?’ And then to realize that not even a decade later, he’s almost at the million dollar goal, is really exciting,” said the Prince George Terry Fox Run Organizer Sylvia Masich.

“It is super inspiring. I think he’s motivated a lot of people to be passionate and to put your heart into what you’re super passionate about,” Masich added.

As he’s gotten closer to the million dollars Terrion says he’s been fortunate to have record breaking fundraising years, as he raised more than 65 thousand dollars in 2024, breaking the previous record of close to 49 thousand dollars in 2023.

“I feel good, and I want to say thank you to the people in Prince George and and Prince Rupert,” Terrion said, when asked about all the positive community support.

While he’s expected to hit his million dollar goal this year, Terrion says he has no plans on stopping and plans on continuing his annual fundraising tradition.

“After the million dollar goals he will still keep working for Terry Fox. He will keep supporting him. It’s very important that people are cancer free,” Terrion said, through Hemming.
