Rathke sets new Canada West single-season saves record as UNBC falls to UBCO
KELOWNA — Johanna Rathke is a Canada West single-season record holder.
The first-year UNBC Timberwolves goalkeeper made 15 saves in a 4-1 defeat to the UBCO Heat Saturday (Oct. 11) afternoon at Nonis Sports Field in Kelowna.
Rathke broke the old Canada West record of 141 – set by Winnipeg’s Madison Priebe in 2023 – with her 10th save Saturday. It means the record is once again held by a UNBC athlete as Priebe bested the old record of 128 saves that Jordan Hall set in 2013.
Rathke, a native of Göttingen, Germany, has made 147 saves in 13 games this season with one game left to play. She’s 40 saves ahead of Lethbridge’s Kate Prince who has made 107 saves across 12 games.
