VANDERHOOF — British Columbia’s police watchdog has cleared the Vanderhoof RCMP of any wrongdoing following the arrest of a woman and her subsequent injury in November 2023.

On November 27 of that year, a woman fractured her leg during an arrest by local RCMP officers.

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) report revealed that Mounties responded to a home to find a woman with court ordered conditions not to be there.

The report says that when three officers attempted to arrest the woman, she resisted and kicked at the officers as they tried to put her into handcuffs. The woman broke her leg during the arrest but it was ruled that there was no attempt to hurt the woman.
