Spruce Kings skate to 7-5 win over Clippers; rematch Sunday

PRINCE GEORGE — Tai Ushio broke a 5-5 tie with less than eight minutes left in the third period as the Prince George Spruce Kings went on to defeat the Nanaimo Clippers, 7-5 in BC Hockey League action Saturday night (Oct. 18).

The Spruce Kings (4-4-0-0) received goals from seven different scorers in the victory. Ushio, Spencer Masters, Kazumo Sasaki, Ozbej Rep, Carter Hesselgrave and Evan Bellamy all had two-point games.

Goaltender Ryder Green entered the game in relief of starter Colin Reay in the first period, then stopped 21 of 22 shots the rest of the way to nab the win.

Nanaimo’s (5-4-1-0) Elliot Perreault had three points in the loss.
