Spruce Kings pick up first road win of 2025-26 BCHL season in Surrey

SURREY, B.C. — Marcus Lougheed had a goal and an assist to help the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 5-2 road win over the Surrey Eagles Saturday (Oct. 25) night.

It was the 6-5 Spruce Kings first road win of the season, and it moved them into second place in the BCHL’s Coastal East division standings with 12 points from 11 games.

Lougheed opened the scoring for the Spruce Kings on the power play early in the first period, before Jackson Froysland doubled the lead at 7:14.

Prince George then allowed the winless Eagles (0-11) to tie the game at 2-2 early in the second period. The Eagles got goals from Landon Jassmann and Easton Jacobs, before Michael Denney scored what stood as the game winner.

The visitors the pulled away in the third period with a pair of goals courtesy Carter Hesselgrave and an empty netter from Dominic Szczygiel.

Ryder Green picked up the win for the Spruce Kings with 21 saves on 23 shots, while Nathan Claydon picked up the loss after turning aside 25 of 29 shots.

Next up for the Kings is a home game this Saturday (Nov. 1) against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at 6:00 p.m. They’ll also host the Langley Rivermen at Kopar Memorial Arena on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
