Prince George woman sentenced for murder outside courthouse
PRINCE GEORGE — A BC Supreme Court justice has sentenced a 60-year-old woman in relation to the murder of a woman outside the Prince George courthouse.
Justice Neena Sharma, in her verdict, sentenced Charlene Jane Alexander to life in prison, with a parole ineligibility period of ten years, for second degree murder.
On July 2, 2020, at around 10 p.m., Alexander stabbed 26-year-old Jessie-Mae Hayward Lines in the chest, three times, in front of the courthouse.
Hayward-Lines had to call 911 herself, and was eventually transported to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Alexander wasn’t charged with Hayward-Lines murder until September 2021.
