Kettle Bell campaign sets lofty goal to support community

PRINCE GEORGE – November 14 saw the Salvation Army’s annual Kettle Bell campaign return to grocery stores and other participating locations all across Prince George.

“Shifts are from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., so if you are interested in coming out and ringing those bells, we would love to have you. We have a kettle campaign goal of $250,000 this year, hoping to raise that, and it helps to support our food bank, our community kitchen. We’re tag lining it: ‘Fill the kettle and feed the community,'” said Terra LaFlamme, the Prince George Salvation Army’s Kettle Coordinator.

When thinking of the Kettle Bell campaign, most think of the food bank. While it’s true that the funds directly go into the food bank, LaFlamme adds the Salvation Army has other programs too that it’s excited to fund.

“We have programs like our food bank, our goal setting Pathway of Hope program. We’re just about to open our new community kitchen, where the community can come and rent out the space to provide meals for their people,” she said.
