PRINCE GEORGE – Rugby is on the rise, and nowhere is that growth more evident than here in Prince George. This year, two local athletes have been selected to join the Global Youth Sevens, a significant milestone that highlights the surge in youth participation in northern BC.

The Northern Sports Centre has become one of the places where two young rugby players have developed their skills and tested themselves on the international stage.

Keira Gordon has been selected to join other young aspiring rugby players in New Zealand next month.

Earlier this year, Loic Gordon had the chance to showcase his talents while playing rugby in Mexico, alongside other skilled players from around the globe.

According to Katie Gordon, who’s a co-founder of Aurora Wolves Rugby Union, athletes from the north often have to go above and beyond to gain recognition within the rugby community.

Since the pandemic, the rugby community in the north has been actively creating pathways for youth in one of the most popular sports globally.
