Young Prince George boxer continues to impress with victory in Alberta
PRINCE GEORGE – Despite limited fighting opportunities, 13 year old Audrey Edmunds continues to impress when given the opportunity. Because of her age and experience, finding opponents of a comparable weight class and experience can be challenging, but when given the opportunity to show what she’s made of she’s always delivered. And over the weekend, she had that opportunity, as she won her match by unanimous decision in the Alberta Sub-Novice Tournament in Calgary.
“I was moving around the ring lots and keeping my jab out to keep her at bay, and then throwing lots of combos. My best round was the second round because I was throwing lots and I was moving around the ring lots. All my other rounds were really good, but I think the second round was my best,” Edmunds said, recounting her fight.
It was her first fight in ten months, but she’s been training as much as she can to make sure that when she has a chance, she puts that hard work to good use. The win in Calgary keeps her undefeated in her young career, and Edmunds adds the chance to get actual fighting experience versus training is a great opportunity to keep building on her skills.
“It’s very valuable because it is really hard to find fights. It felt really good, it felt amazing to finally get in the ring and have a real fight,” she said.
