Prince George RCMP urges Halloween safety as trick-or-treaters prepare to hit the streets
PRINCE GEORGE — With Halloween just around the corner, the Prince George RCMP is reminding residents to make safety a priority while enjoying the annual festivities.
“This is a busy time of year for celebrations,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, BC RCMP spokesperson for Northern B.C. “We want to make sure that everyone in our community has fun while staying safe.”
Police are encouraging trick-or-treaters and motorists alike to take extra precautions as children and families head out after dark on October 31.
Among the safety recommendations for trick-or-treaters, RCMP advises wearing bright or reflective costumes to improve visibility, ensuring costumes fit properly to prevent tripping, and carrying flashlights or glow sticks while walking through neighbourhoods. Children and families are also encouraged to stay on sidewalks, cross streets at designated intersections, and let others know their planned route while carrying a cellphone in case of emergency.
