Penalty kill problems continue to plague Vancouver Canucks
VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks knew they’d face an Anaheim Ducks team with a potent power play on Tuesday.
That knowledge didn’t stop the Ducks from scoring four special-teams goals en route to a 5-4 victory.
“Obviously special teams were the difference tonight,” said Canucks winger Jake DeBrusk. “We’re taking penalties in the offensive zone, hooking, holdings, just bad penalties at bad times, and it’s costing us. It’s cost us the whole year. And that’s on everyone in the room.”
Vancouver’s penalty kill has been problematic this season and currently sits second last in the league (63.2 per cent), ahead of only the Los Angeles Kings (61.5 per cent).
