PRINCE GEORGE – BC’s Premier says the fight against the wildfires west of the Highway 97 corridor, is far from over.  John Horgan made the comments today during a news conference outside of the Emergency Management office in Prince George.

“We are not out of the woods yet,” said Horgan.  “There is no rain in the forecast,” he added.

More than 1,600 square kilometres of forest has burned within the Nechako river basin, between Highway 97 and the Coastal mountain range.  The largest fire continues to be the massive 885 square kilometre Shovel Lake fire.

The Premier was joined at the news conference by National Defence Minister Arjit Saijen, Terry Teegee the Regional Chief on the Assembly of First Nations and others.
