SMITHERS – As a result of rain and cooler temperatures, campfires are once again allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre. The use of tiki torches, chimineas, stoves and portable campfires that are not CSA-approved or ULC-approved will also be allowed. Category 2 and 3 open fires remain banned across the fire centre. Some campfire safety tips include not lighting a campfire or keep it burning in windy conditions, never leaving a campfire unattended and making sure the campfire has been completely extinguished.
