Voter Turnout For Proportional Representation Could Be Concerning

PRINCE GEORGE — The deadline to hand in your proportional representation referendum ballots was 4:30 on Friday, and as of Friday morning, the voter percentage was sitting low at 41%.

Experts say that a low voter turn out for this referendum could be the result of a number of things.

The difficult ballot, the long process and the fact that this is the third proportional representation referendum in the last 10 years could all be factors as to why people wouldn’t vote.

This low turnout is concerning for some due to the fact that this could change electoral reform in BC.
