PRINCE GEORGE — The 2018 Gourmet Gala and Dream Auction was revamped by the PG Rotary Club to reach more parts of the city. As part of that, they teamed with the RCMP to put on cyberbullying assemblies at the Westwood and Spruceland elementary schools.

Grade 5, 6, and 7 students were treated to a program outlining the dangers and effects of cyberbullying. The message being portrayed is that actions affect everybody, whether in person or on the web.

About 200 kids were involved as part of the program. The hope is that the program will catch the eye of the school board and continue beyond this year.

If you are being bullied, or know somebody who is, Community Policing Special Cst. Fred Greene said, “first of all you have to tell somebody. If the person that you tell doesn’t listen, you tell somebody else until someone listens to you. Don’t respond to any of those messages because you’re winning the game if you don’t respond.”
