High risk arrest in Quesnel

QUESNEL- On Saturday, March 23, at around 3:30 pm, Quesnel RCMP were called to the 200 Block of Ritchie Street in Quesnel. Police located a victim and determined an incident had taken place inside the residence and there were still others inside the residence.

As a precaution, the neighboring residences were evacuated while police began negotiating with the occupants inside the house. After several hours, two of the residents surrendered. A short while later, with the assistance of the North District Emergency Response Team, the third person, who was hiding inside the residence, was taken into custody.

The man was wanted on several outstanding warrants and is known to police. At approximately 10:00 pm, neighboring residents were allowed back into their homes.

One man is being held in custody and no names will be released at this time.
