Among the many things going on Saturday in Prince George was a cat food drive put on by the North Cariboo B.C SPCA.

Not only is the facility short on cat food, but the new pet food bank, which they established in partnership with the Salvation Army is also short on food.

The pet food bank was established to help out pet owners who struggle to feed their pets.

Many of residents stopped by the SPCA’s booth which was located at the Crossroads Festival Saturday to donate either food or money.

Emmy Blouin, Chair of the Community Council for the North Cariboo B.C SPCA explained to CKPG that there are many ways to help out the local shelter.

“Always monetary. If people come and bring cash donations they really help out when there are medical needs or animal seizures or just in general. Pet food, toys, and blankets and even peoples’ time. If you want to come out and volunteer at the shelter.”

Last year the shelter cared for 1,164 animals and 404 animals were adopted.
