PRINCE GEORGE – The city of Prince George has been rallying around the family of Christin West, who was found murdered in her apartment last Saturday. Now, one local business has stepped up to the plate to show its support towards a tragic loss.

36-year-old Christn West was a happy and kind woman according to her family. Since her passing, the community of Prince George has come together for the family. They have been completely overwhelmed with support.

Big-O-Tires has a mantra ” “Neighbors helping Neighbors” and they have done just that.

” I was sitting at home and I watched the news and it just touched my heart.” said Troy Gillespie, counter salesmen at Big-O-Tires ” I have kids of my own and I would never want to receive a phone call like that and losing one of your children.”

According to Big O, there was a 400 dollar donation before the BBq began, there were also people who would just drive by to donate money. The MacDonalds on Victoria street also donated treats and coffee for the event.

Nicole West, who was Christin’s sister says she and her family have been inundated with support and hopes after all this, things will change going forward.

“She was the most loving person I have ever met and I learned to become a better person because of her.” said Nicole West, Christin’s sister ” Her generosity and kindness has shown me that time is short and we need to take that time and spread kindness and love in the way that she would have wanted.”

The Big-O-Tire BBQ fundraiser raised $2000 for the family.

There will be a memorial service for Christn West this Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park. If you would like to show your support, you’re asked to join the family in her celebration of life.
