IIO investigates after a man suffers head injury

PRINCE GEORGE–The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is investigating an incident after a man suffered a head injury.
At around noon on Thursday, Sept. 12 plainclothes officers saw what they believed to be a drug deal on the 11 hundred block of Third Ave. Frontline officers attempted to arrest a man involved, but he managed to get away. The suspect fled on his bike into a rail yard located on the 1900-block of 1 Ave. prior to being taken into custody.
During officers’ initial attempt to stop the man the man suffered a head injury. The suspect was taken to hospital and has been determined to have sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The IIO BC is investigating whether police actions or inactions are linked to the mans injuries.
