PRINCE GEORGE–Sometimes when things are lost, they can’t be found ever again.

That wasn’t the case with the memorabilia Sherri Leon Torres found in her antique vanity not too long ago. She and her husband purchased the piece two-years-ago at a local thrift store. A year into owning it and she found a postcard in vanity addressed to a Granny Bun.

At the time she didn’t think too much of it– just one piece of memorabilia. However, one piece quickly turned to several when her husband and son were moving the antique and a bundle of images and a letter fell out.

“We just thought it was too precious to get rid of,” said Torres in an over the phone interview, “so we took some pictures and posted to Facebook,” within hours the post had been shared multiple times on pages such as Hell Yeah PG! and before they knew it Granny Bun’s great-granddaughter was claiming the photos and the letter.

Torres didn’t think they would find the owner and mentions that if it hadn’t been for Facebook groups, the right owner might never have been found. “It’s really fun seeing social media being used in such a positive way. People…were coming out, left right and centre trying to find the owner and I think that speaks to a side of human nature we don’t often see in social media,” said Torres.

According to her the oldest, dated image in the bundle dated back to 1947. Torres has since mailed the photos and letter to Granny Bun’s great-granddaughter.
