Seniors housing a crisis
PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Council of Seniors has hired a Coordinator for Housing Information. Susan Tapp says her first order of business will be to pull together an inventory of what services are available to seniors in this community.
“So I want to find out where [seniors] are and what they’re doing. and how it’s working and look at other avenues for what could work in Prince George because the housing is very scarce.”
She says, once that need is identified, she plans to be an active advocate for seniors housing in the city. Because, according to the Council of Seniors, the number of seniors in Prince George is not diminishing.
“Seniors are staying. In fact, seniors are coming back.” But the types of affordable and accessible housing simply isn’t there.
