Public invited to wildfire mitigation information sessions
PRINCE GEORGE — Residents interested in learning more about the City of Prince George’s proposed fire mitigation strategy are invited to a pair of public information sessions next week.
The strategy includes the targeted removal of vegetation, such as dead organic material, from specific forested areas of the City that if ignited, would pose a risk to people, property and infrastructure.
The five proposed areas targeted for fuel mitigation include Malaspina, Broddy Road, Pidherny, Vellencher and Dever.
The work is dependent on additional grant funding and would commence in 2021.
