Prince George Run for the Cure raises more than $23,000

October 6th marked the annual CIBC Run for the Cure for breast cancer across Canada and more than 85,000 people across the nation took part in walks from coast to coast.

Here in Prince George, 168 residents registered for the walk Sunday as they raised money for breast cancer research and support loved ones who have been diagnosed.

Many local dignitaries and organizations were out also in support of the event as well.

“I think it’s extremely important to have the walk,” stated Run Director Tish Trevelyan.

“It is one of the higher diagnoses cancer, breast cancer is. I think it is extremely important the fundraising just to have the funds for research to try and find a cure someday.”

When all was said and done the local Run for a Cure raised $23,500.
