Council not happy with CN
PRINCE GEORGE – City Council wants to have a chat with CN after it learned the City is on the hook for $118,000 for an upgrade to a rail crossing. The rail giant is adding more security measures to one of the crossings along Otway Road heading into Miworth, such as flashing lights, bells, gates and a constant warning time device. While those around Council Chambers are not bawlking at the dollar-figure, it is about the lack “of a phone call” before the decision was made.
“CN didn’t really give us a heads up,” says Councillor Cori Ramsay. “We, of course, spent so many hours going through the budget, line-by-line and to pay $130,000 from contingency when we’re only three months into the year is a huge hit to us financially.”
