Photographer Chuck Chin to posthumously receive Jeanne Clarke award
PRINCE GEORGE— The Prince George Public Library Board is awarding their 2025 Jeanne Clarke Local History Service Award to the late Chuck Chin. In a release the board credits his “outstanding work to promote and preserve the history of his community.”
Chuck Chin passed away suddenly on January 20, 2024. The board says he was a beloved figure in the community, known for his kindness and talent for capturing the essence of Prince George through his photos. For close to two decades, Chin shared thousand of images on social media, celebrating Prince George, while capturing special events and everyday moments.
“Chuck Chin was more than a photographer; he was a historian, a storyteller, and a treasured member of our community,” said Board Chair Anna Duff. “His quick smile and dedication to documenting and celebrating Prince George will be long remembered. We are pleased that we are able to help share his work with the community and come together to celebrate his lasting legacy.”
The 40th annual awards ceremony takes place on February 23, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre. The Library board will also announce the winner in the Publication Award category at the ceremony.
