New wildfires in PG Fire Centre due to lightning
PRINCE GEORGE – Lightning has made for a busy time for the BC Wildfire Service in the Prince George Fire Centre since Thursday.
“So last 24 hours, we saw 22 news wildfire starts across the entire Prince George Fire Center. We also saw more than 15,000 lightning strokes,” explains Jeromy Corrigan, Fire Information Officer for the Prince George Fire Centre, who says a lightning “stroke” doesn’t necessarily hit the ground like a lightning strike.
