Major Crime Unit investigating death in Fort St. James

FORT ST. JAMES — The BC RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken over an investigation following the death of a 77-year-old man in Fort St. James early Monday morning (Sept.14).

Fort St. James RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 800-block of BC Spruce Road at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Sept. 14. When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from serious injuries.

BC Emergency Health Services transported the victim to hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, he later died from his injuries.

Police say the suspect or suspects had fled the area before officers arrived.
