Reflectors for pedestrians in light of less daylight and weather changes

In light of less light throughout the day and harsher weather conditions RCMP, ICBC and volunteers will be handing out reflectors and safety tips to pedestrians on Monday at the Pine Centre Mall bus loop, and the College of New Caledonia.

Prince George voters flock to advance polls

Increases in advance voting were seen in both the Cariboo-Prince George and Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies ridings. A 25 percent bump for Cariboo-PG and a40 percent increase in PG-PR-NR.

Regional District looking for new transfer station

The City and the Regional District have renewed a partnership that sees the latter run the Quinn Street Recycling Depot. It is a location where residents can drop off their yards waste and various other things, like dead car batteries, used oil as well as cardboard and newspaper.The “caretaker” agreement is for one year, but the City says it will need that location to expand the 18th Avenue Yards in the future. The Regional District is looking for a new location.

School District 57 warning students and parents of dangers of vaping

SD57 is looking at ways to spread awareness about the dangers of vaping. The push was brought to the attention of the board by students at one of their student advisory council meetings. Students say the influx in teens vaping might be a way to alleviate stress and their mental health.

CNC gets provincial funding to create new health care seats

The province is providing $3.64 million over the next two years to create 418 new health care assistant seats. CNC’s PG campus will see $150,000 for 14 additional seats and $145,000 will fo to CNC’s Mackenzie campus to create 8 additional seats.
